The Belltower is a community gathering space and events venue created by Upstate Curious. Our goal is to bring people together while supporting great causes, local artists, makers, small businesses, and the regional economy — including by offering the space to community partners at low or no cost whenever possible.

Rosendale’s charming historic Main Street packs an independent theater, restaurants, indie bookstore, vintage stores, tattoo parlors, and an inn within just a couple blocks between Joppenburgh Mountain and the Rondout Creek. The iconic Rosendale Trestle, a part of the O&W Rail Trail dating to the 19th century, offers a scenic crossing of the creek at 150 feet above the water. Within 15 minutes from Kingston, New Paltz, High Falls, Stone Ridge, and Accord–and with a Trailways bus stop to/from NYC–the location is central to many of the most beloved towns in the region.
HISTORY
About The Belltower
The Belltower began as Rosendale’s Protestant Reformed Dutch Church, first incorporated in 1843. After the original church was destroyed by fire, the present building was constructed in the mid-1890s. In the 1980s, glass artist Louis Sclafani transformed it into a studio and workshop known as Belltower Lighting. Since the 1990s, the building has welcomed weddings, celebrations, and other gatherings.

The Belltower will continue hosting weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners, showers, and related celebrations, with Audrey’s Farmhouse Hospitality serving as its full-service catering partner and bringing some of the region’s best food and hospitality to the space at affordable prices.
Local Collaborations
We’re excited to build connections with our neighbors in Rosendale like the non-profit Rosendale Theatre and the Wallkill Valley Land Trust, as well as groups spread across our large region.
Because part of our mission is to support local businesses and makers–and because there are so many talented people here–we are committed to sourcing as much as possible locally. The lounge will feature a mural by local artist and curator Dana McClure and Rosendale-themed toile wallpaper by Kingston-based illustrator and artist Jason O’Malley aka Rural Modernist.
